Obituary

Mark V. Antone, Jr., 41, passed away suddenly on Monday June 10, 2019. Marky was born in New Bedford on March 28, 1978 to Mark Antone, Sr. and the late Susan (Roderiques) Antone.

Whatever Marky put his hands to he was dedicated and worked hard at it. He was a master landscaper and very skillful at construction work. He brought his dedication and skills to his last employment with Acme-Shorey, Corp. in Carver as a pre-cast engineer and had a tragic accident that took his life. His dedication and hard work were out of determination and commitment to provide for his children.

Friends and family praised him as an amazing father not only to his beloved children but to many children in the community. Marky took the time to teach each of his nieces and nephews the game of basketball. He was described as a magnet for children who were drawn to his love and compassion for them.

Marky was looked at as the leader who could organize a team to help others in need, regardless to whether they were family or someone he knew or not. He was the man that others would look to for advice when they had struggles. A trait he adopted from his father was his ability to make others laugh; often spoken of as “hilarious” with always something funny to say.

Some of his favorite social activities were his love for the outdoors, camping, hunting and/or fishing. He was also a sports fan for the New England teams: the Patriots, Celtics, Bruins, and the Red Sox.

He will be greatly missed. Markie leaves to mourn and yet rejoice, his children, Jaeleahna, Camren, Mahlykye, and Angelina; his father, Mark V. Antone; his stepmother, Peggy Antone; his brothers, La-marr Antone, Tony C. Antone (TC), Rodney Berberena, William Soares, and Jordan Quintal, and Lonnie Antone; his sisters, Jillian Soares and Melissa Soares; his aunts, Joyce Pine, and Fayette Long; his uncles, Arthur Cope, and Danny Antone; his fiancée, Jessica Perez; his step-siblings, David, Derek, and Kristina McMullen; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

His wake will be held on Saturday June 15, 2019 from 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Service from 12:30-2 PM. For directions and guestbook, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
