Obituary

James A. Dobrovic (aka JAD, JD, Jim, Jimmy) of Winchester, MA, beloved son of the late Charles and Ann Dobrovic of Cleveland, OH, peacefully departed this life on June 2, 2019. He has left all those whom he loved and cherished to move on to his next adventure.
Born and raised in Cleveland, OH, and was baptized at St. Colman Church.
In Ohio, JD attended St. Mark’s Elementary School, St. Ignatius High School, and Bowling Green State University where he graduated with a BA magna cum laude, and a MS in mathematics). He worked at the BGSU Pizza parlor, where he was known to be able to throw pizza dough high above his head!
In MA, he was employed at the Lincoln Lab, MIT Main Campus 1980's, IS&T (Infoservices and Technology) Systems Programmer IBM Mainframe. JAD was well respected and admired by his colleagues and clients from the MIT community. He was noted for his leadership, creativity and whimsy. He shared so much of himself and his knowledge with all whose lives he touched. He enjoyed biking to work for most of his employment years. He retired from MIT within the last few years.
In his spare time, JD frequently could be seen jogging in and around the Charles River. On multiple occasions, he was an unofficial participant in the Boston Marathon running his best time around 3 hours, 10 minutes. He also liked travel, gardening, learning German, old cars, and saving money. For many years Jim threw 2 parties a year for his friends and coworkers; one was on New Year's Day, the other was on Patriot's Day (often just after he had run the Marathon).
A Memorial Visitation will be held at the Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester, MA on Wed., June 12, from 6:00 PM-7:30 PM, with a Service of Remembrance at 7:30 PM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Burial will be private.
