Obituary


Olivia Mae Thomas, 88, a life-long Provincetown resident passed away Saturday, May 18th at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis after a brief illness. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Olivia was born and raised in Provincetown, daughter of the late Dorothy A. and Ernest ‘Zeke’ Tasha. She was the wife of the late Anthony L. Thomas, Jr. She met her husband at the age of 15, and became his child bride at 16½. Together they raised four children. Olivia and Tony loved to travel throughout New England, and did so until his death in 1979

In her later years, she enjoyed reading, cooking, watching the Food Network and Hallmark Channel, as well as spending time with her loved ones. Known by many as ‘Nana Olivia’, one of her greatest joys was knitting, especially socks, for her family and her myriad of friends.

Olivia is survived by daughters Helen Motto and her husband Tony of Eastham, Cynthia McGonagle of Provincetown and Kristin Verde and her husband Pedro of Provincetown. She also leaves her daughter-in-law Debby Thomas, six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Her son, Anthony L. Thomas III predeceased her in October of 2010.

Per her request, a Graveside Service will be held in St. Peters Cemetery at a time and date to be announced.
