Loren M. Thomas, 87 , of Walpole died May 13 in Norwood Hospital. He had been the husband of Joan Marie (Gilmartin) Thomas for 63 years until her death last November.
Born in Lowell, June 20, 1931, the son of the late Loren and Blanche (Mortimer) Thomas, Mr. Thomas had been a resident of Walpole for the past 60 years.
Mr. Thomas received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering for the University of Rhode Island and his MBA from Babson College.
An Electrical Engineer , he had worked for GTE Sylvania, Raytheon and Analog.
An accomplished musician he had played in a professional band in high school.
He played the baritone horn, piano, banjo, organ and guitar.
Loren had been a Boy Scout volunteer for many years.
He is survived by his children, Leslie Gillis and her husband William “Rick” Gillis of Walpole, Kathleen Madge and her husband Randall of Millis and David Thomas of Providence, Rhode Island.
He is also survived by his 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
His funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 18 in the Ginley Funeral Home (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 892 Main Street, Walpole at Noon.
Burial will be in Terrace Hill Cemetery, South Walpole.
Visiting hours will be on Friday from 6-8 p.m.
