William M. "Bill" Chiles 77, of West Yarmouth, formerly of Abington died on May 11 at Cape Cod Hospital after a brief battle with cancer. Born in Brockton, Massachusetts, he was the only child of Fendol Mallory Chiles, Jr. of Tampa, FL and Edith Chiles of Abington.
He graduated Northeastern University in 1964 with a bachelor’s degree in business management and had a lengthy career as a retail audit manager and later as controller of Shaw Glass Co.
He was a proud member of the Norfolk Lodge of Freemasonry and a member of the Aleppo Shrine Temple. An avid sports fan, he especially loved the Red Sox and for over 20 years attended every opening day at Fenway with his daughter and close friends.
He was the loving husband of Mary (Ferrari) Chiles for 48 years and beloved father of Melanie Anne Chiles of Attleboro. ,.
Family and friends are invited to attend his visiting hours on Wednesday, May 15th between 4:00-7:00 pm in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman. Burial will be private.
