Ellen Eugenia (Jean) Gallagher, 89, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2019 at Stella Maris with family by her side. She left resting in the arms of the Lord and the love of her family and friends.
Jean was born on August 31, 1929 in Baltimore to the late Robert Mavis and Leona Pettis. Jean led a full and rich life. For 29 years she worked at O’Conor, Piper and Flynn Realtors as a salesperson and new agent instructor. As a young mother, she was a cub scout den mother and volunteer at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and School as well as Calvert Hall. She was a member of IHM Sodality. In her later years, she was also a spiritual volunteer at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
She is survived by her sons Charles R. Gallagher and wife Shelley; James R. Gallagher and wife Janet; and William J. Gallagher and wife Laureen. Other family members include sister Rita Myers (deceased) and husband Ric; Betty Rich (deceased) and husband John; brother John Mavis and wife Karen; and brother Robert Mavis (deceased) along with grandchildren Bridgette Maryman and husband Brice; Katie Bratt and husband John; Mollie Bault and husband Jason; Carlye Hall and husband Travis; Matthew Howard and wife Laura; Geoffrey Howard and wife Leslie; and Stephanie McAllister and husband Colin and 15 great grandchildren and nieces, nephews and many friends.
Visitation will be held at Johnson Fosbrink Funeral Home, 8521 Loch Raven Blvd, Towson, 21286 on Sunday, May 5 from 2 – 4 PM and Monday, May 6 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 8501 Loch Raven Blvd., Towson on Tuesday, May 7 at 11a.m. Interment to follow at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens at 200 E. Padonia Road, Timonium.
