Betty Jo Walker, 76, of Abbeville, Georgia, died Saturday, March 30, 2019, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Tuesday, April 2, 2019, at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Ben Hill County, Georgia, with the Rev. Max Rodgers, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Monday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Walker was born June 2, 1942, in Plant City, Florida, to the late C.A. & Martha Wynn Anderson. She was a 1960 graduate of Tift County High School. Mrs. Walker worked for over 50 years as a Licensed Practical Nurse at local nursing homes. She enjoyed working in her yard and cutting grass. She was a hard worker her entire life. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Walker was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and will be greatly missed by her fur babies, Mattie and Lily.
She is survived by her children and their spouses: Phillip Walker & Marjorie of Fitzgerald, Vicki Lee & David of Fitzgerald, John Paul Walker & Lisa of McDonough, and Curtis Allen Walker & Melissa of Byron; grandchildren: Jonathan Walker & Hannah, Kaylie Walker & Daniel, Baylee Williams & Blake, Hunter Whitley, John Walker, Jr., J.T. Walker, Johnesia Walker, Markel Walker, Lucas Walker, Anthony Walker, and Jace Walker; great-grandchildren including Rhett Walker, Cole Walker, and Laurel Jane Williams; a sister, Mary McAllister & Elvin of Tifton and a brother, Tony Anderson of Chula. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James David Walker; a brother, Carson Austin Anderson; and a sister, Elaine Anderson Meeks.
