Obituary


Irene L. ‘Babe’ Silva of Truro died Thursday, March 14th at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was 80.

Born in Nantucket and raised in Dennisport, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Irene [Eldridge] Reith.

For 25 years, she was the assistant Town Clerk and assistant Town Accountant for the Town of Provincetown. She was well known as the keeper of Provincetown and Truro's genealogy, able to identify relatives and remember many nicknames of the two towns residents! After she retired, she became an avid reader, traveled vicariously watching televised travel shows, visited Nantucket and loved to socialize with family and friends.

Babe is survived by her former husband Warren ‘Pinky’ Silva of Provincetown. She leaves her children, Dennise Luster and husband Michael, Warren J. Silva, Jr. and Tamara L. Silva, all of Truro, as well as Edward Silva of Dennis. She is also survived by grandchildren Alden Silva, Laura Silva, Michael Luster Jr., James Luster, Natasha Luster, Amber Silva, Jessie Jensen and Brandi Silva. Seven great-grandchildren as well as her extended family and many, many friends also survive her.

The family would like to thank the VNA of Cape Cod and Dr. Barbara Prazak of Outer Cape Health Services for their thoughtful and compassionate care during this difficult time.

At Babe’s request, a private family burial will be held in the spring.
