Obituary

Mrs. Valerie J. (Crawford) Sarno, a resident of Marstons Mills, formerly of Medford, and beloved wife of Andrew N. Sarno, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, March 11, 2019. She was 81 years old.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, on October 4, 1937, she was the beloved daughter of the late Albert B. and Valerie J. (Wineska) Crawford. Valerie enjoyed painting, gardening, music and spending summers boating around Boston Harbor and vacationing down the Cape with her family. She and her husband, Andrew led the Cub Scout program and were active at the Social Center at St. Joseph Church in Medford for many years. Above all, Valerie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her children; Andrew M. Sarno and his wife, Caren, and their children, David and Ava, of Medford, Dale J. Sarno and his wife, Pamela, of Boston, Doreen M. Prisby and her children, Benjamin, Abigail and Reid, of North Andover, Darryl J. Sarno of Winthrop, and many nieces and nephews. Valerie was also the mother of her beloved late son, David Stephen Sarno. She was the youngest sister of the late William Wineska, Cecilia Crawford, Elizabeth "Bette" Ahern, and Albert Crawford.

Her funeral will be held from the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford on Friday, March 15, 2019, at 10:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian burial, celebrated at St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford at 11:30 AM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2019, from 4 to 7 PM. Interment will be held in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford.
