New Bedford – Manuel S. Pereira, age 85, of New Bedford passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at Sacred Heart Home. He was the beloved husband of Maria L. (Brandao) Pereira.
Born in Povoaçaõ, St. Michael of the Azores, he was the son of Maria Lourdes (Simas) Pereira and Antonio Pereira. He has lived in this area since 1960.
He is survived by his son Alvaro Pereira, husband of Lisa of New Bedford, his daughter Lucy Lima, wife of Jose of New Bedford, 2 grand daughters: Jessica and Rebecca Lima, 3 brothers: Antonio Pereira of S. Dartmouth, Jose Pereira of Toronto, Canada, and Silvino Pereira of Leamington, Ontario, Canada, 2 sisters, Conceicaõ Medeiros of Leamington, Ontario, Canada and Evangelina Soares of Toronto, Canada, 2 deceased brothers: John Simas and Luis Pereira, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Manuel’s visiting hours are Wednesday evening from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home with his funeral beginning Thursday at 8:30 A.M. followed by a service at 9:30 A.M, in the funeral home.
