Obituary

Grace Mae Williams Jamison, 84, a longtime resident of Andover, Massachusetts and beloved wife of the late James D. Jamison, passed away at the Wingate at Andover Nursing Home on Thursday afternoon, January 31, 2019.

Grace is survived by her two loving sons; David J. Jamison of Andover and Paul L. Jamison of Lowell, sister; Betty L. Myers of Gettysburg, PA, and a number of nieces and nephews. Gracie was also the sister of the late Ira T. Dorsey.

Born in Carroll County (Mount Airy), Maryland February 24, 1934. She was the beloved daughter of the late Russel Williams and Dorothy Dorsey Williams. Grace grew up in Gettysburg and went to Gettysburg High School. Grace was in the first class that had black people who graduated from Shippensburg State College in Pennsylvania. Grace held a Master’s Degree in Education from Penn State University. She taught for 32 years, 27 in the Andover Public School system as a pre-school and kindergarten teacher. Grace enjoyed gardening, reading and traveling. She was also a painter, played volleyball, and walked 2 miles each day. Shout out to the book club and BFF Carol Williams.
