Obituary

SPRINGFIELD ~ Therese A. (Lemieux) Pouliot, 94, of the Atwater Park section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Monday, February 11, 2019. She passed into Eternal Life at her daughter’s home in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Saint Gervais, Province of Quebec, Canada on October 12, 1924, a beloved daughter of the late Octave and Delina (Patry) Lemieux. She was raised and educated in Saint Gervais and later settled in the North End section of Springfield in 1956. She later moved to Atwater Park where she lived the remainder of her life. She was a communicant of the former Saint Thomas Aquinas Church in Springfield where she was a member of Les Dames de Sainte Anne. She later was a devout communicant of the former Our Lady of Hope Church and currently was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, both in Springfield. Most of all, Therese was a loving wife, mother and memere. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Leonard R. Pouliot who was Called Home on September 25, 1980. They were married in Saint Gervais, P.Q., Canada in 1956 and were blessed with many years of happiness together. She will be deeply missed by her three loving children, Raymond G. Pouliot of Springfield and his partner, Kathy Amato, Anne Marie deVillier and her husband, Daryl, of Springfield and Jessie Rooney and her husband, James, of Longmeadow; her eight cherished grandchildren, Jacintha, Tucker, Delina, Alexa and Emma deVillier and Taylor, Zachary and Hannah Rooney; her dear sister, Giselle Lapierre of Saint Charles, P.Q., Canada; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Pouliot and Lemieux families. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by seven dear siblings. Her family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104. Her burial will follow the Mass at Saint Michael Cemetery, 1601 State Street, Springfield, MA 01109. There are no visiting hours at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107. For those who prefer, her family requests that memorial donations be made in her memory to the Sacred Heart Church Renovation Fund, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104 or to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 Saint Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
