Obituary

It is with sadness that the family of Robert Allison announce his passing on February 9, 2019, at approximately 3:30 a.m. in Providence Ojai Nursing Home, Ojai, California. Bob was born April 2, 1932 to his loving parents, Elizabeth and Robert Allison in Oak Park, Illinois.
Robert graduated from Proviso East High School, Maywood, Illinois. He played the French horn in the school orchestra. Robert was very talented in the drafting class and commissioned for a drafting job. After graduation, he married Patricia Hill (deceased), and had three children, Darrell, Kathleen, and Robert. Bob joined the US Navy and began his career at Great Lakes Naval Training Center. He advanced to Third Class Boatswains Mate and served aboard the USS Bearss, DD-654 during the Korean War. After four years in the Navy, he worked as an engineer in Long Beach, CA. He divorced and married Jeri Carroll and helped raise four of her children, John, Maureen, Phillip, and Jack.
Robert had a license to teach Rifle Safety and went to the Rifle Range often. He also loved hiking, sailing, fishing, going to the Long Beach Grand Prix Races, genealogy, history, and Scotland.
Robert was a Command Duty Officer (LT) and a member of the US Naval Sea Cadet Corps, AIRPAC Squadron, Santa Barbara for 7 years.
Robert is survived by his sister, Nancy J. Allison Raymond, of Ventura, CA, and father of Darrell (Linda) Allison of Wentzville, MO, Kathleen Allison Powles of Plano, IL, and Robert (Amy) Allison of Somonauk, IL. Bob was Gramps to Brian (Melissa) Allison, and Grandchildren Emily and Joey of Wentzville, MO, Kelly (Justin) Langager, and Aaron (Stephanie) Allison. Grandchildren Alexis, Ezra, Ashley, Elijah, Eythan and Ephraim. Bob was Uncle to James Raymond (nephew, deceased) wife Heather and their two children, James Dylan and Allison Grace; his niece Catherine Noble, her children, Katie Raymond, and John Noble; his nephew John Raymond and his children, Sebastian, Ephraim, Tobias, Daphne, and Ezekiel. Robert's stepdaughter, Maureen Carroll; his stepsons John (Charlotte) Carroll, Phillip Carroll and Jack Carroll.
There will be a family memorial at home. As per Bob's wishes, his ashes will be scattered at sea in San Diego, by a ship of the United States Navy. Arrangements are under the direction of JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICE, 757 E. Main Street, Ventura.
