Dorothy Jean (Eaton) Paradis, 80, of Plymouth, NH, passed away Friday February 8, 2019 in the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon, NH. She was born in Portland, ME on July 2, 1938, the daughter of the late George and Ernestine (McKenney) Eaton. Dorothy was a graduate of Pinkerton Academy, Derry, Class of 1955. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper. Dorothy also was employed in the Lunch Program at Matthew Thornton Elementary School in Londonderry. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Derry. Dorothy enjoyed reading, cross-stitch and collecting memories.
She is survived by her daughter, Gayle McCarthy of Plymouth, two grandchildren, Erica McCarthy and Corey Paradis; five great grandchildren; two sisters, Carol Fisk of Dunbarton, NH, and Thelma Furr of Hillsboro, IN; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Dorothy was predeceased by her beloved husband of 40 years, Lionel R.J. Paradis in 1997, her daughter Kathleen D. Paradis in 2016 and her brother Donald Eaton.
Calling hours were held on Monday February 11th from 1 – 3pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry. Funeral services followed at 3:00pm in the funeral home. Burial will be in the spring in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Londonderry. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Community Food Pantry, 4 Crystal Avenue #4, Derry NH 03038.
