Eleanore R. Gauthier McNeill,of Abington, MA formerly of Brockton, MA passed away on February 4, 2019 peacefully in her sleep at the age of 95. Born in Meriden, CT she was the daughter of the late Wilfred J. Gauthier and Jane (Levesque) Gauthier. She graduated from Brockton High and was employed for many years at Etonic, Inc. in Brockton.
She was predeceased by her husband of 34 years, Charles “Ed” McNeill and son, Robert. J. Hanlon Jr., her only child. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Carla Hanlon of Tennessee; her niece Catherine Kupp and her great niece Lisa Kupp Tousignant, her great great niece, Gigi Tousignant, all of Minnesota; and her nephew, Gerard F. McNeil of Florida. She had visited in Minnesota many times, and also New Jersey and Nantucket, where her son and his wife had lived previously. She was the sister of Anne M. Bishop and Roland J. Gauthier whom also had predeceased her.
She loved her pets over the years – dogs and cats - and more recently enjoyed reading a good mystery and doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She was a member of Joy in Christ Lutheran Church in Abington for many years. She was a choir member and served on the Altar Guild, Care committee and Parish Life group. She also helped with the monthly newsletter and vacation bible school.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at Joy in Christ Lutheran Church, 21 South Bedford Street in Abington at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 19th. A small reception at the church will follow after the service. Donations in Eleanore’s memory can be made to Joy in Christ Lutheran Church.
