Louis N. Fortin, Jr., age 93, of West Bridgewater, died peacefully January 28, 2019 at his home surrounded by family. Louis was the loving husband of the late Theresa J. (Duquette) Fortin. Louis was born in Brockton on July 6, 1925 where he was raised and educated. Son of the late Louis and Esther (Bunker) Fortin, Louis was a Korean War Army veteran, and served in Central Europe and Rhineland. For over 25 years he worked as a letter carrier in the Brockton Post Office, retiring in 1990. Louis loved entertaining, cooking and grilling for his family, telling old Brockton stories and watching westerns. He was a longtime member of the Bertocci Club and American Legion Post 66 in West Bridgewater. He was a quiet, giving, caring man with a wonderful sense of humor. Louis was especially devoted to his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Louis was the father of Louis N. Fortin of West Bridgewater and Victoria DeOrnelas of Brockton; grandfather of John Ramoska, Christopher Fortin, Leann Leaden, Kristi Fortin, Shawn Fortin, all of Brockton, and Kristal DeOrnelas of Randolph; great grandfather of eleven; and brother of Norma Jones of Mattapoisett and the late Raymond Fortin.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Thursday January 31, 4-7pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home Friday at 11am followed by burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater. Please consider a donation in Louis’s name to the charity of your choice.
