Obituary

Henry H. “Ozzie” Andersen, Jr., 81, of Worcester died Sunday, January 27th in UMASS Memorial Medical Center – University Campus. He leaves his wife of 60 years, Florence (Lara) Andersen; a son, Derrick C. Andersen of Worcester; two daughters, Denise M. Stone of North Attleboro and Deanna M. Canavan and her husband, Francis of Worcester; two sisters, Mary Andersen of Millbury and Ann Marie Lorion of Worcester; four grandchildren, Ellen Rae, Shannon, Matthew, Andrew and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Dennis P. Andersen; a daughter, Dana C. Andersen and three brothers, Edward, Harry and Patrick.
He was born in Worcester the son of Henry H. Andersen, Sr. and Alice (Walsh) Andersen and was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart - St. Catherine of Sweden Parish. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Ozzie worked for the City of Worcester as a sanitation engineer. He enjoyed finding antiques and once owned A & A Antique Store. Some of Ozzie’s favorite pastimes were going to Foxwoods and watching the horses.
Ozzie’s calling hours are Wednesday, January 30th from 10:00 until 10:45 AM in Sacred Heart – St. Catherine of Sweden Parish, 600 Cambridge Street followed by his funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, 260 Cambridge Street. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue is directing arrangements.
