Obituary

Mary M. "Mame" Antonelli of Somerville died on Sunday, January 20. A lifelong resident, she was the daughter of the late Rocco and Rose (DeSimone) Antonelli. Mary was a graduate of St. Joseph's Elementary and High School in Somerville, and Stratford Business School, and completed courses at Bentley College, Boston College, and U. Mass Amherst, receiving certificates of completion for Muncipal Financing & Accounting courses. She had a career as a civil servant with the city of Somerville, including 55 years in the Auditing Department, and served 3 years as appointed City Auditor. She retired as permanent Deputy City Auditor. Mary was the first women President of the Somerville Muncipal Employees Association (9 years), and was affiliated with Winter Hill Seniors, Mass State County Muncipal Employees Association, Somerville Council on Aging, and was a member of the Visiting Nurses Board. Her hobbies included gardening, reading, traveling, and ceremics.

Mary was the dear sister of the late Ralph Antonelli and his wife Ann, Jean Stanger and her husband Francis, Rocco J. Antonelli and his wife Elizabeth, Frank Antonelli and his wife Mary, and Rudy J. Antonelli. She was the loving aunt of Ralph Jr. and Cheryl Antonelli, Joseph and Pattie Antonelli, Robert and Jane Antonelli, Richard and Carol Antonelli, Maryann and Jeffrey Cappello Sr., Michael and Deborah Stanger, Rosemary Stanger, Rocco Jr, Robert B. and Stephan Antonelli, late Ronald Antonelli, Frank and Joann Antonelli, James and Deborah Antonelli, John and Paul Antonelli, JoAnn and George Secchiaroli Sr., Christina Antonelli, Stacy and Anthony Turcotte Sr. She was the loving great aunt of Tracy and Patrick Mooty, Susan Antonelli, Christopher and Nicole Antonelli, Mark and Kimberly Antonelli, Kara Antonelli, Robert and Jeffrey Jr. Cappello , Brandon and Christie Stanger, Jenna Antonelli, Peter Antonelli, Emily and James Ray, John and Mia Antonelli, Christina Antonelli, George and Brigid Secchiaroli Jr., Dean Secchiaroli, Anthony Jr. and Danielle Turcotte. She was the loving great grand aunt of Emmilene, Rosalie, and Francesca Mooty, Jared, Kyle, Regan, and Ryan Antonelli, Cole, and Kristopher Stanger, Olivia and Jack Ray, Otis Antonelli, James and Cecelia McQuinn, Gabriella Secchiaroli, Michael, Anthony and Dylan Turcotte, and is also survived by her dear cousin Mary T. Zappulla of Somerville.

Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Friday, January 25 at 10 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Ann Church, 399 Medford St., Somerville, at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday, January 24, from 4 through 8 PM. Services will conclude with entombment at Holy Cross cemetery, Malden.
