Mona Murray, 82

Dateline: Norton, MA

Mona (Nordling) Murray, age 82, of Norton, formerly of Sharon passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro.

Born in Litchfield, Minnesota on April 25, 1936, she was a loving daughter of the late Oliver and Alvera (Englemann) Nordling.

Mona grew up and was educated in Minnesota where she also participated in and won several beauty contests. She received her certificate as a Licensed Practical Nurse from the Southeastern Regional Vocational School.

A resident of Norton for the past twenty years, she had previously resided in Sharon for many years where she raised her family. Prior to retiring Mona had worked as a nurse for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for disabled adults and had previously been employed at the Wrentham State School and the Fernald State School in Waltham.

Mona’s favorite times were those spent with her adoring family. She enjoyed gardening, arts, painting, antiquing and cooking. She had a special place in her heart for animals and while living in Sharon was actively involved in community volunteering.

She is survived by her devoted children: Kevin D. Murray and his wife Linda of Foxboro, Steven M. Murray and his wife Danelle of Johns Creek, Georgia, Suzanne C. Murray of North Attleboro and Elizabeth T. McDonald and her husband William, Jr. of Norton. She was the loving and cherished mum mum and nana of Tyler Murray and his wife Jennifer, Sarah Murray, Cassidy McDonald, Samantha McDonald and Will Reissfelder. She is also survived by her beloved cat “Kija” and was the former wife of the late Daniel R. Murray.

Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.

At the conclusion of visitation on Tuesday evening, a service of remembrance with reflections from family and friends will be held at 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, Mona’s family has requested that contributions in her memory be made to the Mansfield Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 25, Mansfield, MA 02048
