Esperanza Cardona (age 91) died peacefully at home Sunday, January 13, 2019 surrounded by loved ones. Born on July 10, 1927, one of twelve siblings who grew up in Firebaugh, CA. In 1956, she moved to Ventura, CA where she met and married Domingo Cardona. They raised six children, having twelve grand, twenty-four great, and eight great-great grandchildren. She was headstrong and heartfelt and she spoke with sharp-witted conviction and tender sentimentalities. She loved a good laugh, a good story, a good meal, and above all else, she loved her family. We will greatly miss her and that brilliant smile; our matriarch, our Nani. Kisses, love you!
She is survived by her daughters: Virginia Valdevia, Rosie Gutierrez, Tina Turkish, and Rex Saiz; brother:Tony Sanchez, and sister: Cruz Barrios. She is preceded in death by her sons: Robert Saiz and Arthur Saiz; her husbands, and nine siblings.
Family and friends are invited to visiting hours from 4:00 to 8:00pm on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 in the JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICE, 757 East Main Street, Ventura. A Most Holy Rosary will be recited at 6:00pm in the Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 10800 Henderson Road, Ventura. After Mass, burial will be at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, Ventura.
