Obituary

Mercine (Perros) Minka, a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother died Saturday, January 12th in the Rose Monahan Hospice Home. Her husband of 60 years, Andrew T. Minka died in 2011. She leaves two sons, Theodore A. Minka and his wife, Diana of Worcester and Charles M. Minka and his wife, Dianne of Hopkinton; two sisters, Mary Mamakos of Templeton, CA and Georgia Perros of Worcester; a godson, Paul Dell’Aquila of Worcester; four grandchildren, Christopher, Nicholas, Hailey and Logan; four great grandchildren, Lucas, Connor, Maxwell and Elise and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, John Perros.
She was born in Worcester the daughter of Stratis and Kleoniki (Langas) Perros. Mercine graduated from the former High School of Commerce and attended Salter’s Secretarial School. Mrs. Minka worked for many years at Harrington Richardson and H.H. Brown Shoe for many years. She was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral and its Senior Citizens and Ladies Philoptochos Society and St. Mary’s Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church and its Senior Citizen’s and Women’s Guild. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Her funeral is Thursday, January 17th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester with a service at 11:00 AM in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are 9:30 until 10:30 AM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street, Worcester, MA 01609.
