Obituary

HOLYOKE ~ Julien A. Bisson, 91, of Holyoke, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, January 12, 2019. He passed into Eternal Life at Daybrook Village in Holyoke surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Saint Charles Borromee-de-Garthby, Province of Quebec, Canada on June 21, 1927, a beloved son of the late Willie and Lea (Ruel) Bisson. He was raised and educated in Canada and moved to Manchester, New Hampshire in 1967. He later moved to Holyoke in the early 1970’s and lived there for many years. He was employed as a machine operator at the former National Blank Book Company in Holyoke. He was a former communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Holyoke and currently was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee. He was a member of the Fairview Council 4044 Knights of Columbus Council in Chicopee and a member of the Bishop Joseph F. Maguire Assembly 2670. Above all, Julien loved spending time with his family and his many friends. He was predeceased by his beloved wife and best friend of 49 years, Lucille A. (Turcotte) Bisson who was Called Home on December 21, 1994. He leaves his eight loving children, Denis Bisson and his wife, Francine, of Province of Quebec, Canada, Lorraine Girard and her husband, Robert, of New Hampshire, Mario Bisson of Holyoke, Gerard Bisson and his wife, Eileen, of Ludlow, Christian Bisson and his wife, Laurie Ingersoll, of West Brookfield, Camilio Bisson and his wife, Cheryl, and Marc-Andre Bisson and his wife, Patricia, all of South Hadley and Sylvie Dixon and her husband, Francis, of Chicopee; his 22 cherished grandchildren; his 16 cherished great-grandchildren; his three cherished great-great-grandchildren; his dear sister, Armande St. Martin of Province of Quebec, Canada; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Bisson and Turcotte families. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also predeceased by his eleven dear brothers and sisters. His funeral will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2019 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His burial will follow the Mass at Notre Dame Cemetery, 63 Lyman Street, South Hadley, MA 01075. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot is located in the rear of the funeral home.
