Obituary

In Raynham, January 12, 2019 Ronald F. “Bucky” Glavin husband of Evelyn (Deane) Glavin died at Life Care Center at the age of 81. Born in Brockton, Bucky was the son of the late Frederick and Beryl (Sherman) Glavin. Bucky Glavin is the old Raynham. A lifelong resident with old fashioned work ethics, one can always find Bucky working either in his own business or for the town. Bucky was the Tree Warden which he held for 41 years. He was subsequently appointed as Moth Superintendent, Surveyor of Wood & Measurer of Lumber. In addition he has done work for the Highway Department for years and was a call firefighter for many years. Bucky was well know as a good neighbor and friend who seldom even needed to be asked when a helping hand or should we say, “saw”, was needed. Further, as the father of six children, all of whom were raised and educated in Raynham, Bucky was a role model any family would do well to have as their own. Through hurricanes and heat-waves, fires and floods, Bucky was there when the Town needed him for over five decades. He also was the Groundskeeper for Taunton State Hospital for over thirty seven years. Bucky was a life member at the American Legion post 405 in Raynham. He enjoyed Bowling, Hunting, softball and baseball. Bucky was the father of Dennis Glavin and his wife Maureen of Raynham, Brian Glavin and his wife Valentine of Raynham, Fred Glavin of Taunton, Paula Glavin of Raynham, Rhonda Sousa of Raynham and the late Timothy Glavin. Grandfather of Megan Copeland, Ross Copeland, Michael Glavin, Jason Glavin, Ryan Glavin, Ronald Glavin, Kellie Glavin, Simon Glavin, Nicola Quigley, Amy Glavin, Alyssa Glavin, Nicolas Glavin, Douglas and Ashley Briggs. Great Grandfather of Thirteen. Brother of Nancy Rapoza of East Taunton and Cheryl Rego of Raynham. Calling hours will be held at the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home 70 Washington Street in Taunton Wednesday, January 16th from 9:30-11 AM followed by a service at 11 AM. Interment Pleasant Street Cemetery in Raynham.
