Obituary

F. Paul Zanchi, devoted family man, passed away on January 6th at his home in Franklin. He was 68.

Felix Paul Zanchi was born on June 27, 1950 in Natick, MA, to Victoria and Felix Zanchi. A graduate of Marian High School and Worcester Junior College, Paul’s career in sales made great use of his prodigious charm and love of driving. As husband of 42 years to Judy (Leach), father of three, “Nonno” to six grandchildren and “Unc” to nine nieces and nephews, family was the center of his life. He had a passion for the water, spending summers as a young man on his boat in Lake Sunapee and Branch Lake, and hosting memorable family trips to Peaks Island, ME, where he would fish for hours off the rocky coast. He delighted in summer days spent splashing in the pool with his grandchildren, eating red hot dogs and swinging in the hammock. He loved hard work and fresh air, and could be found working out in the yard year-round. He will be remembered for his wit and generosity, as well as his sweet, playful and constant presence in the lives of his children and grandchildren.

Paul was preceded in death by his beloved son Gregory, and his sister Mary Lou Garvey. Paul is survived by his loving wife, Judy; his two daughters, Christine Zanchi and her husband Fran Nostrame of Sherborn and Lisa Klaus and her husband Matt of Medway; six cherished grandchildren, Nathaniel and Andrew Nostrame of Sherborn and Olivia, Mackenzie, Riley and Elena Klaus of Medway; brother Angelo Zanchi and his wife Lillian of Bangor, ME; and his beloved nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours on Wednesday, January 9th, from 4-8 PM in the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage Street, Franklin, MA. Funeral mass will be held at St. Mary’s Parish in Franklin at 10 am on Thursday, January 10th. Burial at Edgell Grove Cemetery will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in Paul’s memory to the Mass Audubon Society or the American Cancer Society.
