Obituary

Roger J. Montalto 80 of Natick died Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the Newton Wellesley Hospital.

He was the beloved husband of Julie A (Nicolas) Montalto.

A Natick resident for 50 years he was born in Boston the son of the late William and Antoinette (Recchia) Montalto.

Mr. Montalto was the Vice President of Facilities Management for the Met Life Insurance Company, formerly New England Life Insurance, for 42 years retiring in 1998. He was also the former owner of the Shipyard Tavern and Restaurant in Norwell.

He was raised in Watertown graduating from Watertown High School, served in the United States Navy at the Alemeda Naval Air Station in California and then attended Northeastern University.

Mr. Montalto was an avid golfer, long time member of Marlborough Country Club and viewed almost every sunny day and as opportunity to get a round in. He also enjoyed horse racing and traveling with friends to attend racing events throughout the Northeast area for many years.

Roger was known for his unique sense of humor and positive attitude. He was grateful for his family and friends and appreciated that life had treated him well.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughter Dani Montalto of Waltham, father and mother in law Charles and Claire Nicolas of Swampscott, brothers in law Karl Nicolas and his wife Stephanie of Alexandria VA, Peter Nicolas and his wife Annette of Marblehead, Erica Vener and her husband Ron of Marblehead, dear longtime friend Frank Crespi of Natick, and many nieces nephews and cousins.

He was also the brother of the late William, Robert and Rosalie Montalto.

Roger’s family would like to thank the entire staff of the Newton Wellesley ICU and in particular Nurses Vicki and Jo for the tireless efforts and in caring for Roger.

A Service to Celebrate Rogers Life will take place on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. in the John Everett and Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street, at Natick Common. Visitation on Saturday morning beginning at 11:00 A.M. prior to the Service.
