Charlotte V. (Russell) Nihan age 96 died December 15, 2018 after a short illness. She was the wife of the late John V. Nihan.
Charlotte was born and raised in Boston, a daughter of the late Albion and Mary A. (Starkweather) Russell. She had lived in Brockton and Bridgewater for 35 years before moving to Florida in 1989, later returning to live with her daughter Darlene in Bridgewater.
For many years Charlotte had worked as a supervisor of the City of Brockton’s School Lunch Program as a dietician and the satellite school lunch program director.
In her free time Charlotte enjoyed traveling and socializing with her husband, family and friends, as well as visiting family, dancing, singing and reading. Charlotte especially enjoyed time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren whom affectionately called her “Mumsie”.
Charlotte was the mother of Mary Pelaggi and her husband Joe Pelaggi of Whitman, Diane Della Volpe and her husband Jim Della Volpe of Florida, Charlotte Fahey and her late husband Peter Fahey of California, Maureen Nye and her husband Steven Nye of E. Bridgewater, Darlene Saraiva of W. Bridgewater, John M. Nihan and his wife Kathy Nihan of Wareham, James Nihan and his wife Diane Nihan of Plymouth, and William "Bill" Nihan of Florida.
Visiting hours were held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street, Brockton on Friday, December 21, at 9:00 AM, funeral service followed at 10:00 AM, followed by burial in Saint Thomas Aquinas Cemetery Bridgewater.
