Obituary

Alexander (Alex) Francis Nolan, 41 – years of age left this world to join his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 18, 2018. Alex succumbed to the horror of heroin after 10 -years of sobriety. Alex was the beloved son of Edward and Jeanne Nolan of Londonderry.

Alex served in the U.S. Coast Guard and served his fellow man as a drug counselor for many years and as a resource who helped hundreds of his friends get into rehabilitation or counseled them through a rough patch. He was a fun-loving person with an infectious laugh that made everyone smile. Everyone looked forward to family brunches, family holidays and Christmas because of the closeness of the clan and the laughs shared over stories of Kelly, Sean, Shannon and Alex growing up. We all had a laugh at Thanksgiving when the kids talked about the time Alex was up to one of his mischievous acts around the pool – he wasn’t supposed to be in there without Mom or Dad being round. When his siblings saw Mom and Dad coming up the street, in their panic to protect their little brother they picked him up and tossed him over the fence where he landed in a trash barrel. There are hundreds of those little moments that will always make us smile.

In addition to his parents, Alex is survived by his loving sisters Kelly Douglas and her husband Jeff, Shannon Szadis – Nolan and her life companion Bruce and his loving brother Sean and his wife Melissa, his beloved nieces and nephews that Alex loved with all of his heart and dotted on Conor, James, Samantha, Madison, Mikayla, Erin, Brendan, Logan, Lia and Faith. Alex always had a hug, a tickle and time to listen to these special members of his family. He also loved his Aunt Marianne and her husband Uncle Chuckie, Aunt Mary-Alyce and her husband Uncle Bob and his Uncle George and his widow Auntie Karen. Alex also loved his many cousins and especially his closest friend and cousin Cassie. Alex will be lovingly remembered by many.

A funeral Mass was celebrated for Alex at St. Jude’s Church, 435 Mammoth Road, Londonderry, NH on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at 9:00 am. Interment followed at the Riverside Cemetery, Elm St., North Reading, MA.
