Obituary

Efthalia (Makridou) Pappou, our beautiful mom went to sleep on Friday, December 7th surrounded by her family. She was born in Istanbul, Turkey and lived in Athens, Greece for 20 years. In 1986, she moved to the United States. Efthalia was the daughter of Gregorios and Anna (Sidiropoulou) Makridou. Her husband of 46 years, Abraham E. Pappo died in 2017. Efthalia leaves her beloved daughter, Maria Isildakli and her husband, Anastasi; her son, Gregory Pappo and his wife, Melissa; her beloved grandchild, Fay and Paul Simmarano, her loved granddaughter, Natalie Isildakli; her grandchildren, Niko and Athena Pappo; and great granddaughter, Zoe Simmarano.
Efthalia was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral and a long-time active member of its Ladies Philopotchos Society. She enjoyed baking and cooking. She adored spending time with her family and friends especially her grandchildren and great granddaughter.
The family would like to thank Dr. Ahmed Siddiqui and his staff and the Jewish Healthcare Hospice, especially Maureen Grensavitch, Melissa Ladroga, Maggie McNeil and David Day for the compassion and support they gave Efthalia during her illness. The family would like to express their appreciation to Fr. Dimitrios Moraitis and Fr. Nicholas Livingston for their continuous prayers and support during this time.
Her funeral is Monday, December 10th with a service at 11:00 AM in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday, December 9th from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street, Worcester, MA 01609.
