Obituary

Paul A. Kennedy, Ret. CWO U.S. Army, 86, of Medfield, died peacefully, Monday December 3, 2018 at Seasons Hospice Palliative Care Inpatient Unit in Milton, following an illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Mildred C. “Sally” (Cushing) Kennedy, who died in 2008.

Born in Boston, November 26, 1932 a son of the late William and Margaret (Manning) Kennedy, he was a former longtime resident of Franklin, before moving to Medfield.

He was raised and educated in Milton and received his bachelor’s degree from Stonehill College.

A proud American, he joined the United States Army during the Korean War, while serving in Korea he attained the rank of SP3 and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. In 1956 he transferred to the reserves where he spent the next 33 years. Paul worked in military intelligence and with the Judge Advocate General’s Corps. He retired from the military attaining a final rank of Chief Warrant Officer IV.

Paul enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, was an avid golfer and reader plus an interested follower of all the Boston Sports teams. He was a member of the American Legion, the Franklin VFW Post 3402 and the Franklin Lodge of Elks.

Paul is survived by his children, Kevin M. Kennedy and his wife Amy of Ashland, Robert W. Kennedy and his wife Kathy of Salt Lake City, Utah, Brian P. Kennedy of Orleans and Patricia K. Padula and her husband Domenic of Medway. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Ryan, Travis, Caelin, Camryn and Domenic. He was the brother of the late Phyllis McNamara.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service Friday Dec. 7th, at 11 AM in the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. Interment with military honors will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery at 1:30PM.

Calling hours are Friday 9:30-11AM prior to the service.
