Obituary

In Wareham at Tobey Hospital on December 1, 2018 Dennis J. Scully of Middleboro husband of Kathleen (McRae) Scully died suddenly at the age of 70. Born in Taunton, Dennis was the son of the late Albert and Mary (Hogan) Scully. He was educated in Taunton Schools; Dennis received his AS at Bristol Community College and his BS at U Mass Dartmouth and his master’s degree at Western New England College for criminal justice. Dennis served in the U.S. Navy from 1965 to 1969 in Vietnam. He was awarded the Purple Heart from wounds on April 24, 1968. Two Navy Commendations with combat “V” for Valor, along with numerous other medals and ribbons. Dennis was a retired Taunton police Office for the City of Taunton from 1972-2003 retiring with his K9 Falco. He was a life member of the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars John F. Glass Post 2188 in Middleboro, Berkley American Legion Post 121, Game Wardens of Vietnam, PBRFVA, Irish American Police Officer’s Assoc, Fraternal Order of Police and the Mass Police Assoc. Dennis was the father of David Scully and his wife Amanda of Bridgewater. Grandfather of Riley, Liam and Nora Scully of Bridgewater. Brother of David Scully and his wife Wilma of East Taunton, Virginia Davitt of Taunton, Judith Kelley of Taunton, Albert Scully and his wife Kathleen of FL, Kathryn Wood of Taunton, Mary Levesque and her husband Paul of Taunton and the late Marilyn Anne Potoczak. Also servived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church, 340 Center Street in Middleboro on Friday, December 7th at 10 am. Interment St Joseph Cemetery in Taunton.
