Obituary

Thomas H. “Tom” Finn of Provincetown died at home on November 25th, after a long illness. He resided in that home for over 45 years.

Born May 11, 1946, Tom grew up in New Rochelle, NY with his parents, the late Jac Finn and Loretta Valentine along with two older sisters, Nancy and “Bobbi,” who also pre-deceased him. Like his father, Tom was a proud union steamfitter for many years.

Having an adventurous spirit, he left home to explore the world as a young man. Tom was well-traveled and accumulated great experiences, stories, and life-long friends. His smile, laughter and sense of humor were beloved to those who knew him.

A lover of animals, especially dogs and birds, he had many devoted companions over the years, (i.e., Rip, Finbar). Tom loved motorcycles, baseball, lobster diving, whale-watching, a smart-looking vest and cruising through town in his Jeep with some cool jazz playing. Tom was always surrounded by books and had many interests, such as protecting the environment and wildlife, politics, Eastern religions and their practices.

Tom cherished his Provincetown family and New Rochelle roots. His spirit can be felt and remembered at his favorite places to eat and drink, the homes of good friends, and on the pier, with a strong cup of coffee in hand, while watching the boats come in.

Tom’s ashes will be spread in the waters off of Provincetown Harbor in the spring of 2019. Friends and family will be invited to a memorial gathering at that time. The date will be announced.
