Obituary

Boylston- Carol D. (Peterson) Quist, 85, passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Her husband of 55 years, Bertil G. Quist predeceased her. She leaves a son Erik Quist of Boylston; 3 daughters-Robin Quist and her husband Ota Jiroutek of Boylston, Lauren Fadgen and her husband Richard of Clinton, and Lynda Lowell and her husband Edward of Charlton; 10 grandchildren: Chris, Katie, Stephen, Karen, Nathan, Ben, Caleb, Tyler, Alex, and Anthony; a great grandson Drew; and her beloved caregiver Jenn.

Daughter of the late Wallace and Lorna (Dean) Peterson, Carol grew up on College Hill in Worcester and graduated from Commerce High and Mt Ida College. She and Bert raised four children in a happy, loving household in Boylston, a town she would call home for more than 55 years. In addition to raising her children, she loved reading, cooking and baking. She kept busy by helping her Aunt Freda run a successful catering business for many years. She was also instrumental in starting the Meals on Wheels program in Boylston and the meals were always delivered with a smile. As her children grew older, she began working as a secretary at the Lutheran Home in Worcester, a job she was well-suited for with her loving, compassionate and caring personality. She continued her career as Secretary to the Principal at Tahanto Regional High School in Boylston and was adored by teachers and students alike for 17 years.

She was thoughtful, generous and caring to everyone, from giving rides to those in need or bringing homemade treats to nursing home patients. She loved birthdays and Christmas as it meant spending time with family. She would often be seen at the sink doing dishes, a chore which she actually looked forward to. All were welcome in her home, which meant not only people but any stray animal that happened to stop by. Once they showed up, there was no doubt they had found a forever home.

She loved going up to Frye Island on Lake Sebago and cherished the times she and Bert spent together there. She will be missed more than words can describe, but her smile and her love for her family will never be forgotten.
