Harriet E. (Clarke) Servais, 90, of New Bedford died November 30, 2018 at home after a long courageous battle with breast cancer.
She was the wife of Paul H. Servais, Sr.
Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Thomas and Eva (Duffy) Clarke, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
Mrs. Servais was a communicant of St. Lawrence Church. She was awarded the Marian Medal from the Diocese of Fall River for her many years of service to her parish.
She was formerly employed as a registered nurse at Carney Academy for many years until her retirement. Mrs. Servais also was a registered nurse at St. Luke's Hospital operating room and maternity ward as well as at the New Bedford Board of Health.
She enjoyed playing the lottery, going to casinos, and travel.
Our family is grateful to Paula and Patti who made it possible for our mother to be at home as she wished. Special thanks to Community Nurse Hospice and her caregivers.
Harriet was the "kind" kind and to know her was to love her.
Survivors include her husband; 4 children, Theresa Muldoon of New Bedford, Paul H. Servais, Jr. and his companion Maria of Dudley, MA, Patti Philipsek and her husband Mark of Sandy, UT and Paula McGraw and her husband Mark of Mattapoisett; 8 grandchildren, Erin, Patrick, Shaun, Stephanie, Michael, Kate, Andrew and Patrick; 8 great-grandchildren; her cousin, Mona Provencher; her neighbor and friend, Jean Boneville; her faithful friend, Pat Norton; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the grandmother of the late Justin Servais, the mother-in-law of the late Mark Muldoon and the sister of the late Mary Clarke, Theresa Murphy and Pat Kerr.
Her Funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 5th at 9 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10 AM at St. Lawrence Church. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, December 4th from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 or to Holy Family-Holy Name School, 91 Summer St., New Bedford, MA 02740.
