Ludlow – Marie E. (Parent) Karnolisz, age 99, passed away on Nov. 12, 2018 at Wingate of West Springfield. She was born on Oct. 23, 1919 in Springfield, a daughter of the late Alexander and Eva (Bellmore) Parent. Marie attended Clarke School for the Deaf from 1925 – 1937. She worked as a stitcher for Buxton Company for 25 years before she retired in 1981. She was known for being an excellent housemother, a counselor for AA as well as her involvement with the Drugs Program at the Stephen Miller House in Cape Cod from 1982 – 1988. She was an Advocate for Disabilities while living in Cape Cod; was Residence staff for the Corillis Independent Living Service in Rhode Island from 1988 – 1990; was a member of the New England Deaf Seniors; Active Member of the Rhode Island Deaf Seniors; Active member of the Baystate Deaf Seniors; member of the International Catholic Deaf Association Chapter #121 as well as a member of the Western Mass. Association of the Deaf and Hearing Impaired. She is survived by her son Joseph A. Karnolisz and his partner Wendy of Westfield; 1 grandson Jason Karnolisz; 1 great grandchild Christopher Karnolisz and 1 great-great granddaughter Olivia. She also leaves many cousins, nieces and a nephew. She is predeceased by her brothers Eugene and Paul Parent and her sister Doris Jamrog. Calling hours will be held on Monday, Nov. 26, 2018 from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at the Grise Funeral Home followed by a Prayer Service at 11:00 AM. Burial will be private at a later date in St Rose de Lima Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Baystate Deaf Senior Citizens, 328 North Main St, East Longmadow, MA 01028.
