Doris M. Fitzgerald, 92

Dateline: Norton, MA

Doris M. (Carr) Fitzgerald, age 92, of Norton, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward J. Fitzgerald, to whom she was wed for thirty-eight years at the time of his death in 1977.

Born in Providence, Rhode Island on October 21, 1926, she was a loving daughter of the late William and Fannie I. (Haskins) Carr.

Doris grew up in Providence and was a 1944 graduate of Mount Pleasant High School in Providence. She had made her home in Norton for the past twenty-five years and previously resided in Johnston, Rhode Island.

A dedicated homemaker to her adoring family, she enjoyed serving as a volunteer for many years at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital Gift Shop. Doris loved spending time in the presence of her loving family, playing cards and trips to area casino’s. She was an avid reader, belonged to several book clubs, and when younger traveled to Europe, which included trips to France, Germany and Luxembourg and also visiting family in Canada.

She is survived by her devoted daughters: Cheryl A. Busca and her husband John of Ontario, Canada, and Karen J. Limoges and her husband Dennis of Norton. She was the cherished grandmother of Jessica Busca of Ontario, Canada, Jason Busca of Ontario, Canada, Laura Doherty and her husband Peter of Cumberland, Rhode Island, and Amy Saccoccio and her fiancé Chris Frei of Weymouth. She was the dear sister of the late Ethel Hudson and Kenneth Carr. Along with her biological children and grandchildren, she leaves behind many who loved her dearly and thought of her as their adopted grandmother.

Burial will take privately at Pocasset Cemetery in Cranston, Rhode Island. Visiting hours have been omitted.
