Donald "Don" Eugene Nicely, 79, Anderson died at his residence October 23, 2018 after an extended illness.
Donald was born July 31, 1939, in Advance, Indiana, the son of Harry and Gertrude (Hughes) Nicely, Sr.
He worked production at General Motors retiring in 1994 and then worked in Security at Hoosier Park for 11 years. He enjoyed woodworking, camping and hiking. He was a Boy Scout leader and coached & managed Little League.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Donna (Bowers) Nicely of Anderson, whom he married August 8, 1964; two daughters, Deborah (Gary) Nicely-Neal, Deanna Nicely Birky; two granddaughters, Doranda Nicely (Jeremy Key) and Dawnielle (Alexander M.) Benitez; great grandchildren, Sydmund Felton, Lillian Nicely-Key, Olivia Nicely-Key, Connor Remington and Brianna Remington; brother, Charles H. Nicely; sister, Mary Jane Russell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, David E. Nicely, three brothers, Harry Nicely, Jr., James Nicely and Franklin Nicely and sister, Maxine (Nicely) Beck.
Memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Pastor Rob Mifflin officiating. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service.
Burial will be at a later date at East Maplewood Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Anderson Animal Protection League.
