Obituary

Fred Carroll Willis, 69, of Sylvester passed away Saturday, October 20, 2018, at Phoebe-Worth Medical Center in Sylvester. A memorial service will be held for Mr. Willis at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 27, 2018, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Jason Boyd officiating. Mr. Willis will be laid to rest at a later date at Saint Luke’s Church Cemetery in Alapaha. The family will receive friends following the service on October 27, 2018 in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Born August 1, 1949 in Orlando, Florida, Mr. Willis was the son of the late Cecil Dwight Willis and Odessa Jernigan Willis. He was also preceded in death by one son, Kenneth Ross Willis; one brother, J. W. Willis; and two sisters, Brenda Willis and Glenda Joyce Madaris. Before retiring, he was a painter with Willis and Sons Painting Company and of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was decorated during the Vietnam War with three purple hearts; two bronze stars and several other medals. He had lived in Sylvester all of his life.

Mr. Willis is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Sherri Willis of Tifton; two daughters and one son-in-law, Brandy Willis of Sylvester and Tammy and Francisco Moncada of Jacksonville, Florida; five grandchildren, Bryce Willis, Blake Willis, Luciano Moncada, Lydda Moncada and Mario Moncada; and one great-granddaughter, Adrianna Willis.
