Obituary

John C. “Big Red” Moseley, a 15 year resident of the Flagship Wharf Condominium in the Charlestown Navy Yard and formerly of the South End and Cheshire, CT., entered into eternal life suddenly on Monday, October 15, 2018 at his home in Charlestown. He was 79 years of age.

John was born in Washington Township, Pennsylvania on September 29, 1939, the son of the late Charles L. Moseley and Elinor (Bigler) Moseley. Red grew up in Cheshire, CT where he was educated in the Cheshire Public School system and graduated from Cheshire High School. John entered into the United States Navy on September 26, 1957, and served his country with pride and honor as a Submariner on the USS Tench. He was Honorably Discharged on September 15, 1960 with the rank of Seaman. Following his military service, Red attended the University of New Hampshire where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Business and Culinary Services. John worked as a Chef for the Sheraton Hotel chain in Florida and in Alabama and also worked at the White Elephant Hotel and Resort in Nantucket until his retirement. He was also requested to extend his culinary skills at various other restaurants in the area. John lived a simple life where he enjoyed reading, drinking coffee at the Style Café, being involved in the Navy Yard, following the trends of the culinary and hospitality industries and supporting Donald Trump.

John is the brother of Jane (Moseley) Finnemore of Epping, NH. He is the “uncle” of Teri McLellan of Freeport, ME. He is the loving and devoted friend and father figure of John M. Iacoi, Esq. Red also was the devoted friend of Cindy Spagnolo, Mario and Judy Dacunto, Vickie Tarlow, and Judy Tarlow. He is also survived by his dear friends Majorie, “Mama” Victor, Junior and Junior’s brother of Style’s Café. Red also enjoyed his morning coffee with the controversial and “politically incorrect” morning coffee crew at the Style Café at Flagship Wharf Condominium.

John’s Memorial Service will be held in the Flagship Wharf Condominium Library on All Souls Day, Friday, November 2, 2018 at 12:30 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, kindly make a memorial donation in John’s name to the Charlestown Boys and Girls Club, 15 Green St. Charlestown, MA 02129
