Phyllis McAvoy Paulk, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Thursday, October 18, 2018. She was surrounded by her immediate family at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America, in Newnan, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held, 3 PM, Sunday, October 21, 2018, at Ocilla Baptist Church, in Ocilla, Georgia, with the Rev. Rob Dowdle and the Rev. Billy Stephens officiating. Interment will follow in the Ocilla Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the church.
Mrs. Paulk was born November 8, 1958, in Washington, Georgia, to Kerry W. McAvoy, Sr. & Nancy D. McAvoy of Washington, Georgia. She grew up in Washington and graduated high school from Wilkes Academy. Later she attended Middle Georgia College from 1976- 1978 and graduated from The University of Georgia in 1981. Mrs. Paulk raised her children and grandchildren and was owner and operator of Southern Style and worked in the banking industry. She was a member of Ocilla Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband of 37 years, Ray W. Paulk of Ocilla; two sons: Mackee Paulk & his wife, Audrey Pope Paulk of Gray and Marcus Paulk of Ocilla; four grandsons: Braden M. Paulk, Wilkes C. Paulk, Reid M. Paulk and Graham M. Paulk; siblings: Sheila M. Reeves & Russell of Suwanee and Kerry W. McAvoy, Jr. & Leslie of Washington and her mother-in-law: Melba Wilkes Paulk Veazey of Ocilla. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Cason Wilkes Paulk and her father-in-law, Raymond O. Paulk.
