Manuel P. Cardoza, 60, of New Bedford died October 16, 2018 at Rhode Island Hospital due to complications during a minor procedure.
He was the husband of Sheri Caton, with whom he shared 23 happy years.
Born in St. Michael, Azores, the son of the late Jose and Aurora (Cordeiro) Cardoza, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.
Mr. Cardoza was formerly employed by Laborer's Union Local 151 for many years until his retirement.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandsons, family and friends. "Manny Tiger" as he was known by his friends, was a member of St. Michael's Social Club and was an avid football and soccer fan.
Survivors include his wife; a step-daughter, Marissa Violet of New Bedford; 2 grandsons, Nathan and Izaiah; 3 brothers, Tony Cardoza and his wife Mary Jo of Acushnet, his twin brother, Joe Cardoza and Danny Cardoza, both of Fairhaven; a sister, Betty Alfaiate and her husband Frank of Fairhaven; and several nieces and nephews.
His Funeral will be held on Saturday, October 20th at 8 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Mass at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church at 9 AM. Visiting hours will be on Friday, October 19th from 4-8 PM.
