Mary L. “Mary Lou” (Coughlin) Sorrow, age 82, of Mansfield, passed away on Monday, October 15, 2018 at Norwood Hospital in Norwood. She was the beloved wife of the late Peter D. Sorrow who died in 2001.
Born in Norwood, MA on May 27, 1936, she was a loving daughter of the late Clement and Margaret (Fennesey) Coughlin.
Mary Lou grew up in Norwood and Walpole and was a graduate of St. Catherine’s School in Norwood.
Prior to retiring, Mrs. Sorrow had worked for fifty years as a school bus driver for the Town of Mansfield, Walpole and Kissimmee, Florida a job that she truly loved looking out for the safety of children.
A resident of Mansfield for the past fifteen years, she had previously resided in Kissimmee, Florida. Mary Lou enjoyed dining out with family and friends, trips to Maine, traveling throughout the country with her late husband Peter, listening to Irish music and especially celebrating family members birthdays.
She is survived by her devoted children Sandra A. Sloan and her companion Jack of Beverly Hills, Florida, Paula J. McSweeney-Betts of North Attleboro, Ronald C. Rossier of Florida and the late Linda L. King. She was the dear sister of Ruth Giddings of Walpole, Eleanor Meau of Mansfield and the late Elizabeth Miller. She is also survived by her cherished 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Her funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Saturday, November 10th at 10:00 A.M. in the Blessed Sacrament Church, 10 Diamond St., Walpole. Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery in Walpole.
