Joseph M. Gonsalves, 95, of Westport, passed away on Friday, October 12, 2018 at Life Care Center of Stoneham. He was the husband of the late Evelyn E. (Gonsalves) Gonsalves.
Mr. Gonsalves was born in Oakley, CA, son of the late Manuel L. and Mary (Mello) Gonsalves. A veteran of WWII, he served his country in the U.S. Navy. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a lab curator for the physics department at Boston University. He was a Mason at the Somerville Lodge A.F. and A.M., a member of the Holy Ghost Club, Westport and P.A.C.L., Westport. He was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church, Westport.
Survivors include his son: Joaquim "John" Gonsalves and his wife Carol of Woburn, MA; 2 grandchildren: Brian M. Gonsalves and Lisa Cunningham; a great granddaughter: Isabel E. Cunningham; along with several nieces and nephews.
Graveside service to which relatives and friends are invited will be Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport at 11:00 A.M.
