Obituary


Alexander V. Parisi, a lifelong resident of Boston's North End, passed away peacefully at his home October 11, 2018, following a period of declining health. He was 97. "Yankee" as he was affectionately known to family and friends", was the beloved husband of 61 years to the late Josephine (Napoli) Parisi. Born in Boston he was the son of the late Vito and Colomba (Cordani) Parisi.

Born and raised in the North End, Alex was a 1939 graduate of Brighton High School. He worked for many years as a talented and skilled truck mechanic with the former White Truck Company and later with the Mack Truck Company, until his retirement. As a young boy in the 1940's, Alex enjoyed playing basketball and was the captain of the Sacred Heart CYO basketball team. Later in life he enjoyed playing golf. However his greatest joy was his family and nothing gave him more pleasure than to be surrounded by those he loved. He will mostly be remembered for his love and devotion to his family. He will leave his legacy of kindness to all who knew him.

Alex was the devoted father of Joan Briere and her husband Peter of Wayland, Christine Frost and her husband Ronald of East Bridgewater, Janice Parisi and her husband Paul Baldassari of Ashland, Maryann Tucker and her husband Robert of West Palm Beach, FL, and Michael Parisi of the North End. Loving grandfather of Lauren and Allison Briere, Nicole Stern, Joseph Frost, Hope and Joal Tucker, Deren and Alessandro Parisi. He was the loving great grandfather of Abigail and Jackson Stern. Brother of Barbara Woods of Dedham, the late Louisa Cantolupo, Emily Dello Russo, Aurora Parisi, Emidio Parisi, Cristina Gandolfo, and Norma Parisi. Further survived by many nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, October 16th, at Sacred Heart Church, 12 North Sq., Boston, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family prior to the Mass at the church from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 AM. Services will conclude with burial at St. Michael Cemetery, Boston. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions can be made in Alexander's memory to St. Leonard of Port Maurice Parish, 320 Hanover St., Boston, MA 02113, www.saintleonardchurchboston.org.
