Peter M. Peters
Retired Tewksbury Tree Dept.

TEWKSBURY: Peter M. “Pete” Peters, age 92, a resident of Tewksbury for over 65 years, passed away at home in the care of his family and hospice on Thursday, October 11, 2018.

He was the beloved husband of 60 years to Catherine M. “Kaye” (Brown) Peters, who passed away on September 26, 2009.

Born in Cambridge on February 14, 1926, he was the son of the late Samuel Peters and the late Athena (Joseph) Peters.
Pete was raised in Cambridge, where he attended local schools.

In 1943, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served during World War II in the Asiatic-Pacific Area.
Pete resided in Cambridge until moving to Tewksbury in 1951.

He was employed by the Tewksbury Department of Public Works-Tree & Forestry Division until his retirement. In addition, he, along with business associate-the late Walter Doucette, founded and operated Town Tree Service. In later years, Pete entered the residential construction field, and constructed numerous homes in the Tewksbury community.
Pete served on the Conservation commission for 15 years and was instrumental in the planning and building of the Tewksbury Credit Union.

He enjoyed many activities including skiing, scuba diving and gardening. His passions were boating and fishing; spending many summers in Newburyport.

Pete was the father of nine children, Cathy Whitten and Michael McIntire, his late daughter Christine Delaney, who is survived by her husband Thomas Delaney Sr., Michael Peters, Vicki Golen and her husband Rick, David Peters, and his wife Edna (McIntire), Maryann Laferriere and her husband Scott, Sandy Martel and her husband Arnie, Philip Peters and his wife Laura (Tremblay), Patty Martel and her husband Mark; 16 grandchildren, Thomas, Michael and Kevin Delaney, the late Linda Peters, David Peters , Kerry Laferriere, Jennifer Taylor, Katie Vicari, Arnie and Jill Martel, Diane Bronder, Mark Peters, Mark, Peter, Timmy, and Joey Martel and 12 great grandchildren. Peter, one of eight siblings, is survived by his sister Margie Fitzgerald of Wrentham.

Calling hours are Sunday, Oct. 14, from 4-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. His funeral procession will begin on Monday, Oct. 15, at 9 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
