Obituary

Parodos, Alexandre of Framingham, MA, age 90, October 9, 2018. Beloved husband of Elly (Zagoras) Parodos for 63 years.

Devoted father of Kyriaki Stefano and her husband James of Hopkinton, and Themistoclis Parodos and his wife Maria of Acton. Grandfather of Alexis Stefano, Erica Stefano and Zachary Parodos. Brother of the late Leonidas Parodos and late Anna Parodou. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Alex was born in Alexandria Egypt, July 23, 1928, where he met Elly at age 20. They had been together for 70 years. Alex was a high jumper, and held the Greek national high jump record during the early 1950's. He loved to breed and race pigeons. Alex was educated in France. He became a teacher of mathematics and later an actuary.

In 1963 Alex moved his family from Egypt to Montreal, Canada. He worked at Sun Life of Canada and went on to become the Vice President of Group Life in the US Headquarters, a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA). Alex moved to Philadelphia, PA in 1971 and then to Framingham, MA in 1974.

Alex was a humble, wise and generous man who loved the wonder and beauty of nature. He enjoyed his family, summers at Cape Cod, all sports, especially track and field, bird watching and walking in the woods.

Funeral Service is at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 57 Brown Street, Weston, MA on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 10:00am. Visitation prior to service from 9:00am to 10:00am in the church. Relatives and Friends are kindly invited. Interment will be at Edgell Grove Cemetery, Framingham.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in Alex’s memory to St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church or the American Heart Association.
