Obituary

New Bedford– Donald DaSilva, age 74, of Dartmouth passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Joyce A. (DaCosta) DaSilva and the son of the late Joseph and Elsie (Fels) Silva. Donald was also the husband of the late Vivian Silva.

Born in New Bedford, MA, Donald had spent the majority of his life as a hard working truck driver, long-hauling for over 50 years across the US before retiring. He was a master at woodworking and a classic car enthusiast, owning and rebuilding several cars, both old and new. He was very opinionated and hard headed at times but also a social butterfly, charming and striking up conversations with strangers no matter the setting or crowd and one thing for sure, he was always smiling. He got frustrated with modern technology and asked questions during movies he liked and slept during movies he didn’t like.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce; children, Lisa Morgan and her husband, Timothy of Florida, Chris Silva of Oklahoma and Debra Miller; grandchildren, Devin Silva of Germany, Samantha Reynolds and Angela Delisle; as well as a great-grandchild, Brielle Delisle.

Donald’s visiting hours will be held Monday morning from 8:00-10:15 A.M. in the funeral home and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Name Church at 11:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.

Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. New Bedford, Ma 02740.
