Louise (Sims) Ellis - lovingly known as Mo’mo or Weezy - of New Bedford passed away at home on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at the age of 68, after a long battle with breast cancer. She was the widow of the late Raymond J. Ellis.
Louise was born in New Orleans to the late Dallas Sims and Louise McGee. She lived in Thibodaux, LA, where she spent most of her life, and West Covina, CA before moving to New Bedford, where she resided for the past 18 years.
Throughout her life, Louise held a variety of jobs. For the past few years, Louise was a member of Coastline’s Senior Corps Foster Grandparent Program where she worked with children attending PACE Head Start - an experience that brought her great joy.
In her free time, Louise enjoyed watching old Westerns and "Law and Order,” as well as cooking and caring for her family and friends. She was known for spreading smiles and wisdom to everyone around her.
She attended church regularly at Union Baptist Church.
Louise is survived by her sister, Barbara Baker; her three daughters, Catherine Ellis Hills, Danielle Ellis-Judkins, and Taja Sims; her sons-in-law, William Hills and Dedrick Judkins; her grandchildren, Christopher Hills, Caitlin Hills, Dailyn Judkins, and Deen Judkins; and many loved cousins, nieces, nephews, sisters- and brothers-in-law.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Robert McGee and James Sims, Sr.; her sister, Mildred McGee; and her nephew, Bernard Baker, Jr.
In accordance with Louise's wishes, no viewing or funeral services will be held at this time. Instead, a Celebration of Life will be held in the coming months (details to come) to commemorate Louise’s life with all who loved her dearly.
