Obituary

SPRINGFIELD ~ Italo T. “Tony” Angotti, 88, of the Sixteen Acres section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, October 4, 2018. He passed into Eternal Life from his home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Springfield on December 4, 1929, a beloved son of the late Michael and Marie (Graziano) Angotti. He was raised in Springfield and was a lifelong resident of the city. He served his country in the United States Merchant Marines during World War II and received the World War II Victory Medal. He later enlisted in the United States Army where he attained the rank of Private First Class. He had worked for the former United States Post Office on Dwight Street in Springfield and also worked for the Daniel O’Connell’s Sons Construction Company in Holyoke. He was a Deputy Sheriff for the Hampden County Sheriff’s Department and ran for Public Office in the City of Springfield many years ago. He was a communicant of Saint Patrick Church in Springfield. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and his many friends. He leaves his loving wife, Kathryn L. “Kathy” (Palmere) Doyle Angotti. They were married on October 6, 2007 and were blessed with over ten years of happiness together. He also leaves his two loving sons, Shaune M. Doyle and his wife, Janna, of Springfield and Wayne P. Doyle and his wife, Kelly, of Palmer; his loving daughter, Karen M. Brunelle of Westfield; his loving son-in-law, David Cole of Easthampton; his seven cherished grandchildren, Brenda Cole, Victoria Doyle, David Doyle, Jillian Edwards, Karina Litvak, Shannon Brunelle and Danny Brunelle; his dear brother, Peter Angotti of Chicopee; his dear sister, Marie Passero of New York; his dear sister-in-law, Emily Angotti of Springfield; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Angotti, Doyle and Palmere families. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his beloved first wife, Edna Angotti; his three dear daughters, Dianna Cole, Nancy Jury and Beverly Park Jones; his dear son, Joseph J.”Joey” Doyle; his dear brother, Iteleo Angotti; and his dear sister, Marie Quigley. The Angotti Family would like to thank Dr. Kelly Armstrong for his friendship and his kindness that he had shown to Tony during his long illness. They would also like to thank the staff from Baystate Visiting Nurse and Hospice including Ernst, Dillan, Ann Marie, Monacha and Peter; his nurses, Carolynn, Donna and Lucy; and a special thank you to Kathy in the office for bringing these special people into their lives. His funeral will be held on Tuesday morning, October 9, 2018 beginning at the St. Pierre ~ Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104. His burial with United States Army Military Honors will follow the Mass at Saint Michael Cemetery, 1601 State Street, Springfield, MA 01109. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, October 8, 2018 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that memorial donations be made in his memory to the Sacred Heart Church Renovation Fund, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
