Obituary

(Celia) Arlene Tanguay, 87, of Gorham, NH went home to be with the Lord on Sunday Sept. 30, 2018. She had been a resident of the Coos County Nursing Home since August 17, 2018. Arlene, daughter of George Brown and Jennie (Kimball) Perkins, was born in Albany Twp., ME on July 12, 1931.

Arlene was a stay at home Mom, who loved to take care of her family and cook, bake and craft. When the family moved to Wilson Drive (now Shady Drive) she met her new lifelong friend Barbara Cormier, who taught her how to sew. It was a skill she used throughout her life. Arlene loved to spend time with her family and friends and was always baking and decorating birthday cakes for her children, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends.
She also worked one summer as an aide for Headstart while her husband was recuperating from a serious back operation. She loved working with children. Before she became sick she also had a close group of Christian friends who were always doing things together.

Arlene had been a faithful member of the Riverside Assembly of God Church in Gorham, NH for many years before her health failed. She enjoyed her work at the church with the “Sunshine Room” to support missionaries and helping to decorate and cook for the many special dinners held at the Church. She was always willing to help those in need.

Family includes her husband of over 70 years, Arthur A. Tanguay of Gorham, NH now a resident of the Coos County Nursing Home; three children, Donna and husband Robert Folsom Sr. of Albany Twp., ME; Debbie Martin of Berlin, NH and Mims, Florida; and Donald Tanguay and wife Janet of Albany Twp., ME; six grandchildren Craig and Cody Martin, Tia Labonville and husband Alex, Jediah, Ben and Hayley Tanguay; twelve great-grandchildren Olivia and Emma Martin; Amber Wilson; Aiden and Abel Martin; Camden, Levi, Oliver, Charles, Kezia, Liliana, and Oceana Tanguay, and a 13th on the way; sisters – in – law Dorothy Ferrante, Irene Tieva, and Bea Wheeler; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her sister Carolyn M. (Brown) Tanguay, niece Lisa Tanguay, Aunt Celia Gorman (who she was named after), brothers-in-law Maurice, Wilfred, Richard, Alphee, and Louis Tanguay; and son-in-law Joseph Martin.

SERVICES: Funeral services will be held on Thursday October 4, 2018 at 1 PM at the Riverside Assembly of God Church. Interment will follow in the Songo Pond Cemetery in Albany Twp., ME. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 1 Promenade Street, Gorham, NH on Wednesday October 3, 2018 from 7 to 9 PM. In lieu of flowers, anyone who wishes may make a donation in her memory to the Riverside Assembly of God Church.
