Obituary

Lucille B. (Larocque) Kolbeck, 84, of New Bedford, passed away on Friday September 28, 2018 at St. Luke's Hospital. She was the wife of the late Joseph F. Kolbeck.

Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Oliver and Wanda (Rymut) Larocque. A graduate of Holy Family High School, she earned her R.N. license at St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing. After marriage, Lucille and Joe moved to his hometown of Milwaukee, Wisconsin for five years before moving back to New Bedford to raise their family.

Lucille's career in nursing included St. Luke's Hospital, private duty care, Taber Street Nursing Home and several years as a school nurse for New Bedford Public Schools, most recently at the Hathaway and Rodman schools. She retired in 2013 at age 79 due to ill health. Despite her ailments, Lucille was the primary caregiver for her daughter Amy, for several months until her passing in May 2016.

Lucille was a communicant of St. James Church where she was a former Eucharistic minister, a former Marriage Encounter instructor, and treasurer of the St. Vincent dePaul Society.

Lucille enjoyed her participation in St. Luke's School of Nursing Alumni Association, the Polish Women's Club, the Red Hat Society, the Delta Kappa Gamma Society, the New Bedford Educators Association, and the Massachusetts Teachers Association. She also enjoyed going to the Providence Performing Arts Center with her gal pals.

Lucille is survived by her children, Lynn (Marc) Bessette, Nadine (John) Folan, Robert (Robin) Kolbeck, Renee (Clem) Sousa, and Greg Kolbeck; seven grandchildren, Scott Sousa, Christine Folan, Sara Kolbeck, Laura Kolbeck, Cory Sousa, Kyle Blanchard and Aleksander Kolbeck; daughter-in-law, Yahaira Kolbeck; son-in-law, Timothy Blanchard; loving aunt, Irene Collis; brother, Roger (Anna) Larocque; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was the mother of the late Amy Kolbeck, and sister of the late Paul Larocque.

Her Funeral will be held on Friday October 5, 2018 at 9 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. James Church at 10 AM.
